Deirdre is a graduate of NUI Maynooth, holds a BA in Community Studies, hDip in Guidance and Counselling and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Bereavement Studies from the Irish Hospice Foundation and Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
She has been working in community education for the past 15 years where she has delivered HSE health education programmes, piloted education programmes with the Equality for Women Measure and facilitated bereavement support groups for the Irish Sudden Infant Death Association. Deirdre also delivers bereavement education workshops for the Irish Hospice Foundation.
Deirdre has been exploring and practicing mindfulness for 7 years and is trained as a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teacher with the Institute for Mindfulness Based Approaches (Germany) and is also a qualified .b Teacher (Mindfulness for Adolescents) with the Mindfulness in Schools Project. Deirdre is also a facilitator at The Sanctuary , Dublin founded by Sister Stanislaus. (Sr. Stan).
Deirdre is passionate about the benefits of living mindfully, she practices regularly and continues to deepen her own practice by ongoing professional development and attending retreats. She is a member of the Mindfulness Teachers Network.
Deirdre is based in Kilkenny and now concentrates on teaching Mindfulness in Kilkenny, Carlow and Waterford.
